Survey Says: People Fax in the Strangest Places

efax, mobile faxing, online faxWhat does a Las Vegas casino, a train in Budapest, Yosemite's El Capitan, and a Paul McCartney concert in London have in common?

If you were expecting a list of interesting places to visit, this may surprise you.

Mobile business professionals have recently closed important deals via fax at all of these locations. Yes, we said fax.  When you consider the inconvenience of moving documents through a traditional fax machine, this brings up some obvious questions.

Q: Where would you find a fax machine on a train in Budapest? Or during a Paul McCartney concert?

A: Actually, you wouldn’t. All of these deals were closed using a mobile faxing app -- the eFax mobile app, to be specific. Times have changed and mobile professionals need the freedom to fax from anywhere. In fact, 84% of survey respondents reported that they had closed a deal using the eFax mobile app while outside of the office -- even from unusual places like mountaintops and rock concerts.

Q: If you're using a mobile phone to close a deal via fax, how do you sign a contract?

A: If you're using the eFax mobile app, it’s simple to sign documents using the digitized signature feature. eFax has not only made the fax machine obsolete when it comes to closing a deal, it has also eliminated the need for a pen. Now, you can use your finger to swipe or add your signature on the contract, and fax the signed document directly from the mobile app. Over 70% of survey respondents felt that having a digitized signature feature (such as offered on the eFax mobile app) would help them close more deals.

Q: What if I'm faxing to someone who's receiving the document on a fax machine?

A: When you send a document using the eFax mobile app, all of your documents will appear the same as a regular fax. Anyone who receives your faxes from your eFax® number will never know the difference. Of course, the same fax document can be received and opened on a mobile app as well, as a PDF or TIFF file.

Q: Why use fax instead of other services like email?

There are several important reasons why fax remains integral to transactional business. Firstly, no contract or purchase order is complete without a signature. Secondly, unlike email, a fax time stamps a document on both the sending and receiving ends. For these reasons, faxed documents are considered legally binding.

Additionally, some online fax solutions such as eFax offer enhanced security. Faxes are SSL-encrypted and stored in a secure web-based inbox, providing a more secure method of transmission than regular email.

Finally, when it comes to signed contracts, expediency counts.  And by using the eFax mobile app with your smartphone or tablet camera, it’s easy to snap a photo of a contract, add a digitized signature with a swipe of a finger, and transmit the contract via fax – all in a matter of seconds.

A few more interesting facts from the eFax survey:

+ Of the more than 1,100 small and medium-sized businesses polled, 32 percent say they have closed at least half of their deals this year from a smartphone or tablet.

+ 70 percent of survey respondents say that being able to use their finger to generate a digitized signature for online faxing will help them close more business.
